Michael Fitzgerald

Managing Director/Investments

Mike began his investment industry career in 1985 and joined Stifel in 2023. Prior to joining Stifel, he worked at Merrill Lynch, J.C. Bradford, and Wells Fargo Advisors and predecessor firms for more than 35 years. Mike provides comprehensive planning guidance for his clients. He follows a process to develop custom-tailored plans to help clients pursue their short- and long-term goals.

Mike earned a B.B.A. in Marketing from University of Georgia (UGA) Terry College of Business in 1984 after attending The Citadel for three years, as well as serving as a police officer in Brunswick, Georgia for nearly two years. He holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses, as well as life, health, and variable insurance licenses (including annuities).

Mike enjoys playing golf, hunting, scuba diving (Padi/SSI, Master Diver, and Certified Rescue Diver), spearfishing, and cooking in this spare time.  He is also a member of Athens City Club and Gridiron. Mike has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for more than 40 years and has two children, Michael and Demi. Michael earned a degree in Risk Management from UGA Terry School of Business and is currently employed by KSA Insurance out of Charleston and resides in Virginia Highlands, Atlanta. Demi also graduated from UGA Terry School of Business and works for Summa International as Director of Business Development. Demi and her husband, Jack, reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Active in the community, Mike is a past board member and President of the Athens Child Abuse Council. He served on a rector search committee at Emmanual Episcopal Church and chaired the Emmanual Parish endowment board for 10 years. He is a former board member and President for the National Football Foundation College Hall of Fame. The Fitzgerald family are members of the Emmanual Episcopal Church, Athens Country Club, and Sea Island.

Roy Roberts

First Vice President/Investments

Roy began his investment industry career in 1997 and joined Stifel in 2023. Prior to joining Stifel, he worked at Paine Webber, where he developed the basis of his investment knowledge, Merrill Lynch, and Wells Fargo Advisors. Roy is dedicated to helping his client build, mitigate risk to, and transition their wealth to the next generation. He follows a disciplined process that begins with listening to his clients so he can learn more about their needs and goals. Roy applies the highest possible levels of care, skill, and caution to his client relationships.

Roy earned a B.A. from University of Georgia and holds Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses. He earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which identifies those individuals who have met the experience requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework, and have passed the CFP® Certification Examination.

Roy spends his spare time on the family farm in Monroe, Georgia, with his family, daughter, Mary Elise, and son, Roy III. Roy III (Bo) has recently graduated from University of Georgia and has taken a position in medical device sales. Mary Elise is in her senior year at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia. He enjoys following his kids to their athletic competitions and staying active both physically and mentally by playing basketball, golf, tennis, swimming, hunting, and fishing – especially with his children.

Roy is active in the community and serves on multiple boards, including The Walton County Boys and Girls Club and, previously, the Boy Scouts. He still remains very active in the UGA community. He also graduated from George Walton Academy, where he serves on the board of trustees.

Marissa Shannon

Client Service Associate

Marissa joined Stifel in 2024 and works in a supporting role to her financial advisors. Her duties include client relationship management and facilitating daily operations.

Before coming to Stifel, Marissa worked as the VP of Operations for a growing insurance agency out of Savannah. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and did work for North East Georgia Domestic Violence Agency as a child advocate. Since then, she has had two children that have kept her in the Winder area, bringing her close to the Stifel located in Athens. Although she is from Massachusetts, she now considers Georgia her home and enjoys getting to be a part of the Athens team and community.

During her free time, Marissa is traveling often to support her daughter who is a competitive cheerleader and going to soccer games for her son. She also likes running and playing any outdoor sport. Marissa and her family attend Bethlehem Church and enjoys serving with the elementary students.
